Cut to target.Keep the margin.
Borncut fixed-weight portioning helps fish, poultry and meat processors move away from inconsistent manual cuts, unnecessary giveaway and constant rework. Every cut is calculated around the product in front of it.
The extra grams are not free.
Estimated current exposure
Your product giveaway could be costing
Estimated raw product cost
That is approximately 50 kg of product per production day being added above the target weight.
Estimate only. This calculator measures the raw product value associated with average over-portioning. It does not guarantee that all calculated giveaway can be recovered. Actual yield improvement and return on investment depend on product variation, cut specification, tolerances, temperature, line speed and operating conditions. A production assessment or trial is required.
Cleaner cuts. Consistent portions. Stronger yield.
The value is not just speed. It is a more controlled product coming off the belt, ready for retail, foodservice, packing or further processing.
Fish and salmon
Map each fillet's unique shape and create consistent portions while protecting texture and presentation.
Poultry
Produce cleaner, more consistent portions for packing and further processing with less manual correction downstream.
Meat
Cut steaks, medallions, slices and strips with tighter weight control and consistent product definition.
Every piece is different. The cut plan should be too.
Borncut maps the product, calculates the cut pattern and portions around the specification selected by the operator.
Scan
High-frequency imaging captures the product's shape and natural variation as it enters the machine.
Calculate
Software calculates an individual cutting pattern around the selected weight, dimensions and cut style.
Cut
High-speed servo control and ultra-thin blade technology produce clean, repeatable portions.
Control
Optional weighing and quality-control tools can feed production data back into the portioning process.
Control more than the cut.
Borncut is not simply a faster knife. It gives production teams tighter control over the product, the process and the margin attached to every portion.
Less product giveaway
Cut closer to target weight and reduce the expensive habit of protecting against underweight portions by consistently over-portioning.
Tighter weight control
Create more predictable portions and pack outcomes across naturally variable raw product.
Cleaner presentation
Ultra-thin blade technology supports defined, consistent portions that look better in trays, packs and foodservice applications.
Faster production flow
Automate repetitive portioning work and reduce manual cutting, checking and correcting at production scale.
Modular expansion
Start with a stand-alone portion cutter, then connect weighing, sorting, quality control or packing as production requirements grow.
Multi-protein flexibility
Support a range of fish, poultry and meat products, cut styles and specifications from one portioning platform.
Match the machine to the product.
The right model depends on product dimensions, cut type, throughput, available space and how the portioner needs to connect with the rest of the line.
Smaller portions and footprints
Compact high-speed portioning for smaller products, strips and cubes where floor space matters.
- Fish, poultry and meat
- Small portions, strips and cubes
- Standalone or modular use
Flexible production workhorse
Single-lane portion cutting for fillets, tenders, steaks, strips and cubes across varied production requirements.
- Adjustable cutting angles
- High-resolution imaging
- Compact production footprint
High-volume portioning
Dual-lane platform for processors that need stronger throughput while maintaining fixed-weight control.
- Two independent lanes
- High-volume applications
- Flexible line integration
Large meat and whole products
Three-camera portioning platform designed for larger meat, turkey and whole-fish applications.
- Three-camera scanning
- Steaks and medallions
- Large product capability
Watch what comes off the belt.
Cut quality, portion consistency and product flow are easier to understand when you can see the machine working with real product.
Common portioning questions.
How accurate is Borncut fixed-weight portioning?
Accuracy depends on the product, raw material consistency, temperature, target weight, tolerance and cut pattern. Thompson can review your specification and coordinate a product assessment or trial before a final recommendation is made.
Can one machine process different proteins and cut styles?
The Borncut range supports fish, poultry and meat applications including fillets, steaks, medallions, tenders, strips and cubes. The correct model and setup depend on product dimensions and the required finished portion.
Can Borncut connect with our existing line?
Borncut can operate as a stand-alone portion cutter or form part of a modular system with weighing, sorting, quality control and packing. Line layout and interface requirements should be reviewed during the application assessment.
Does the calculator show guaranteed savings?
No. It estimates the raw product value currently attached to average over-portioning. Actual recoverable yield and return on investment require production data, a product assessment and, where appropriate, a cutting trial.
What information should we send Thompson?
Send the product type, dimensions, temperature, target weight, permitted tolerance, desired cut style, current average weight, hourly throughput and available floor space. Photos or video of the current process are also useful.
Bring us the product. We will help assess the process.
Tell Thompson what you are cutting, what each portion should weigh and what your production line needs to achieve. We will help identify the right Borncut platform and the next practical step.
Include your product, target weight, current average and required throughput.
